Ticket sale hiatus - clearing things up!

Hey folks!

So as you’ll probably know, for the past week or so we’ve had to put our ticket sales for SitC 2013 on hold. Obviously this has made a lot of people anxious as they’re worried tickets are quickly selling out (they’re not), they won’t go back on sale until much closer to the event (they will) or that no-one will be made aware when they go back up (they will)

Basically, to be completely honest, the reason we’ve put them on hold for now is because of an issue we’ve run into with PayPal. Because a lot of people have been purchasing tickets over the first couple of weeks of sales, the big sudden influx of money into our account has made PayPal jumpy, and their kneejerk response has been to freeze our funds until the event takes place. YAY!

We’re not the first event that’s had this problem, LeakyCon ran into the same issue a year or so ago. But our only solution until PayPal release our funds (as we need the money for the venue, obviously) is to sign up with an alternative payment system. We expected that to be set up by last Friday, and unfortunately it is still taking some time, but as soon as it is solved, and tickets go back online, you will be notified!

So to clarify:

  • Tickets are on hold until we can sign up with an alternative payment system
  • When that’s sorted, we’ll announce they’re back online
  • You can then purchase tickets until your heart’s content! (orrr until you’ve bought as many as you need)

In the meantime DON’T PANIC - tickets are NOT gonna sell out rapidly, and we will give you ample warning before they do! <3

LAST THING: To anyone who has bought tickets already, don’t worry - they’re still valid. We just can’t access that money. SO if any of you lovely people are willing to help us out by having your PayPal purchase refunded and repurchasing your tickets on the new system, contact us at sitcgathering@gmail.com with your order ID and the subject “I’m happy to repurchase. Refund my PayPal purchase”.
